Ways to keep your head above water…

Hi Faithful Few. Since I’ve started this motivational Monday series, my blog views are rising. I’m so grateful and just wanted to say THANK YOU TO EACH & EVERYONE OF YOU who take the time to read, like, or share. Feel free to comment and share topics that would interest you for future post or just to share how a blog may have inspired you. I released the first post on February 13 and here’s the numbers for proof:

Blog Stats:

February 13 – February 19: 20 views

February 20 – February 26: 37 views

February 27 – March 5: 66 views

March 6 – March 12: 112 views

I think back to when I first launched this blog in 2014 and I was struggling at that time living on my own 3 hours away from home in a new city working at a new job. I was so unsure of myself and my purpose in life. There was a beautiful mountain top in the city that I would drive up to often to clear my head and ponder about the future. I’m a dreamer and I saw myself living in a big city surrounded with opportunities that were all connected to my purpose.

9 years later, I live in a much bigger city than I did back then and I’m surrounded with so much that reminds me of whose I am and who I was created to be. It’s like a dream come true but last year, I started to feel like I was drowning a little and for some odd reason: My head may have went underwater a few times, I didn’t drown.

So here’s 3 ways to keep your head above water:

Stop Carrying Unnecessary Baggage

So if you’re carrying baggage that isn’t yours, it will always weigh you down. Mainly because you’re trying to be superwoman or superman or superthem and carry loads of stuff that you picked up while helping someone else manage their chaos . There’s nothing wrong with extending grace and lending a helping hand but you must never take on that load as personal baggage. If you’re helping someone else, they have two options: Keep it or Trash It. The option can never be for you to carry it short-term or long-term. Recognize that you have your own baggage to carry. Recognize that you too have had to maneuver through tough times and will have to do so in the future. Recognize that your heart & soul wants to set you free and that requires for you to carry only what you’ve been called to carry in this season.

Don’t Look Back Too Often

So many times we use our past as a tool of motivation. So that we don’t repeat the bad but use the good to drive us across the finish line. The issue with looking back too often is that you lose sight of what’s in front of you. What’s happening in the now. The good that you have been blessed with. You can’t see the finish line if you’re not looking ahead. You can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel if you’re not looking ahead. You can’t see how close you are to the deep end if you’re not looking ahead. So don’t look back too often. Look forward. Look to the future. Look ahead and don’t forget to enjoy the view.

Do What Feeds Your Soul

If you’re doing what starves you, you will not have the strength you need to keep your head above water. So take time to assess if your hobbies bring your peace and clarity. Blogging is a hobby of mine. I feel so free when I write. I choose to write inspirational post because that’s what makes me happy. It’s a joy to share my heart in this capacity and to help others navigate through life feeling motivated and encouraged. When I’m down, I write. When I’m happy, I write. When I’m unsure about the future, I write. Writing feeds my soul and brings me internal peace, even if I don’t share those words here on the blog. Sometimes my journal is where I go to release. Find your safe space to release and create more time to do your soul longs for.

I know what it’s like to feel like you’re drowning and struggle to maintain the strength that you need to keep swimming. So today, I’m not going to push you to keep swimming but I am going to challenge you to keep your head above water. Fight to do so if you have to. On the other side of choosing to keep your head above water are days that will remind you of the dream that once lived in your head…

coming true because of your fight to live & to persevere.

With heart & soul,

B. Nicole
