Hi Faithful Few,
I’m back with another motivational Monday blog post. I couldn’t wait to release this one because it’s literally me using a real life experience to help others shift their perspective. This past weekend, I made it to my hometown of Florence to attend a wedding, a birthday party, and a funeral all in one weekend.
I actually had plans for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The part that I didn’t have in mind was that the power in my hometown would be out all weekend long. It was such an inconvenience. The weather hit that afternoon and I was halfway there when my mom notified of the news that our entire street was without power. I was annoyed hearing the news at first.
That meant no hot water. That meant food in the fridge would be questionable to eat after awhile. That meant no flat ironing my hair. That meant getting dressed with little to no lighting. That meant being inconvenienced…
So after one cold shower and pinning my hair back for the wedding and the birthday party, my mom and I spent 2 nights at my granny’s place which was kind of cool. We laughed until we fell asleep on one another. So thanks granny for being so hospitable this weekend.
My mom kept mentioning while we were there about how much of an inconvenience it was and I just kept saying, well it could be worse…
Lives were lost.
& Homes were ruined.
As a result of the same storm that caused the tree to fall on our power lines. See sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is in you shifting your perspective. It’s in you changing your viewpoint. It’s in you counting the blessings in your possession currently.
Remember how I went home for the following:
- Wedding on Friday night: Congratulations to Jasmine and Adan Abarca
- Birthday Party on Saturday: My nephew turned 2
- Funeral on Sunday: Ms. Donna Woods was the sweetest soul who helped the junior ushers at the church I attended growing up
See how much life was celebrated in 3 different formats and in 3 different settings. There’s always so much in life to be thankful for even if your light is a little more dim this week than it was last week.
So the next time, you’re looking for the light at the end of the tunnel..
Look close, not far. Look at the good going for you. Look at the blessings you have ownership of. Look at what’s flowing in the direction you desire to go in. Look for the beacon of light in the things that brings you joy. Look for the beacon of light in the things that keeps you motivated. Look for the beacon of light in what helps you accept that which life throws at you. Look for the beacon of light in the things or the people that don’t complicate things for you but help your appreciation for the small things grow bigger & BIGGER.
The light at the end of the tunnel is closer than you think…
