When You Lose More Than You Win…

So social media is a great way to connect with so many. Friends, family, colleagues, etc. I believe that you can use social media to share whatever you feel is important to you. I choose to share the highs and lows of my own personal life experiences to inspire others. I never know who will read or see a post but I do know that people are yearning to learn about the hows and whys in life.

As the saying goes, you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. I used to miss often because I was afraid to show up authentically online. Then I just started doing things scared and the results have been so refreshing. I feel empowered with each post and truth shared. I know that somebody somewhere could use the encouragement. For me personally, it’s freeing. I feel blessed to have such a platform and I pray that I continue to use my influence for good. I know that one day it’ll pay off in one way or another.

So here are 5 tips about connecting with your audience on social media:

  1. use current trends to post your truth
    • don’t be pressured into oversharing
    • recognize that trends bring out the negative nancy’s
    • make the trends work to your advantage, so get creative
  2. mini vlogs are in
    • regardless of how boring you think your life is
    • document your day to day activities on tik tok, IG story, YouTube
    • authenticity wins people over, so no need to be who you’re not
  3. create a schedule that matches your brand
    • this could mean that you post randomly
    • don’t deem it necessary to post everyday unless you can maintain doing so
    • post when it makes sense for you to post
  4. be consistent
    • find a platform that allows you to connect with your audience best and use it the most
    • if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
    • this also applies to showing up authentically
  5. have fun
    • don’t stress about being perfect
    • if you start to get overwhelmed, take a break from posting
    • do what feels right and that may not always be what’s popular or trendy

Below I’ve shared a video that is receiving the most views on my YouTube channel about how to set yourself up to win, so please check it out and subscribe if you haven’t already. I’d love to reach 100 subscribers soon so I can have my own link created for my channel.

But first, let me share some losses so that you understand that I know both sides of the spectrum:

Top 3 losses for this last quarter of the year (October + November + December)

  1. I discovered that I might have a slight gambling problem but it took me winning big to realize it. More details to come in another blog.

2. My bathroom had poop everywhere due to backed-up sewage in the pipeline. The crazy part is that it only happened to my bathroom and I’m currently in Florence because my bathroom is under construction as we speak.

3. I just discovered this week that I’m actually 5 classes short of graduation. So, I could have been graduating in May but looks like I’ll be sticking around for that one class in June/July. Shame on me for not realizing that I only registered for 3 classes this semester instead of 4…
