So you can probably tell by now that I’m devoting more time this month to the blog.
I love that during the month of May I tackled revamping my site so that I could begin writing #ontheblog more before the end of the year. Then I noticed that the site was receiving more traffic but I needed more clarity for people to navigate easily. So I literally watched many tutorials and finally got the look that I was going for.
One day I’ll pay for someone to make it look real real fancy, but please know that I’m super proud of the final product because I did it all by myself. I love a good challenge. Like it’s kind of hard for me to say No!
So during the month of May, I accepted an Instagram challenge to post daily. Instagram is where I receive the most engagement from anything B Nicole Inspiring Souls related. It just made sense for me to sign up.
This month, I’ve agreed to write a blog post daily Monday- Friday. So far so good. I’m feeling like next week will be even better. The amount of traffic has increased each day so far. I’m actually still in shock today from seeing Thursday’s post receive so much love.
This week the consistency challenge has reminded me of some of the important things to do as you’re managing multiple media accounts:
- Plan ahead as much as possible. This is a new one for me but every time that I commit to doing so, I end up giving myself more free time to dedicate to other things.
- Have a theme beforehand. So that has honestly been my saving grace this week. I have 5 categories on my website which is perfect for a challenge like this where your goal is to put out daily content more consistently.
- Make writing something that you do daily so that when it’s time to produce, you have more confidence in what you share. Even if you choose not to share what you wrote this time around.
- People want the real. The preset on a photo adds a nice touch but if your caption or messaging is off, you will see less engagement over time.
- Celebrate every win. Small. Big. Major. And In Between.
I have a future doing this full time. I can just feel it deep down. I sometimes wish that the time was now, but until then I’m going to keep my focus and be grateful for my portion.
When I started blogging in 2014, I managed to write one blog a month for the first year. I used to think that was the toughest thing to do but it was just because I hadn’t been exercising my writing muscle.
Regardless of if you run a blog or a business, you have to show up everyday using it as practice for the next level.
The blog inspires me because I remember the days where it was just me and her. There was no audience. There was no plan attached to the process. There was nothing but a vision and a pure heart.
I could have continued go about life privately and just journal the day away but there was a strong desire for me use my story to inspire others.
And now I’m doing just that on the daily. IT’s the BEST feeling in the world to know that people from all walks of life enjoy something that you put together with hard work and a few sleepless nights.
So to all of you with a dream in mind, I started with nothing too. Use that as your motivation and don’t forget why you’re launching something.
Be sure to sign up for my newsletter that will go out every Saturday to catch you up on the latest tea.
I’m still very much so in the beginning stages of this blogging journey but I know that God has so much more in store for me and this platform that he gave me 5.5 years ago.
I’ll be back next week with more blogs to share from the following categories: Life, Career, Girl Talk, Social Media and Fashion.
Stay tuned…
