Delay No More… Be A Blessing!!!

As flawed as I am, I’m desiring more of God and less of me. I pray daily for my characteristics to be godly, and to exemplify Christ in all that I do. It’s a requirement for me to stay connected to “The Source” instead of relying on multiple sources that may not benefit me in the long run.
My favorite day of the week now is Sunday, and that’s a testimony all by itself. I love my church and love being able to fellowship with the members outside of church. My pastor has been discussing throughout the month of December that we love to exemplify Christ on Sunday at church, but what happens to our godly characteristics once we leave church? I went out to eat with a small group of friends which is becoming a weekly routine (sorry budget!!!). After dinner, our conversation continued in the parking lot of the restaurant. In the midst of our conversation about our upcoming watch night service at church on Thursday night, a man on a bicycle with a crate on the front approached us. Now I’ll go ahead and be honest, I had already made up in my mind to tell this man “NO” and he hadn’t even asked a question yet. The man asked “How was our Christmas?” We responded with small talk and then he begin to pour his heart out to us and my mindset changed instantly.
This man stated that his companion was 3 months pregnant, her small stature made me want to hear him out more without having judgmental thoughts.
So he begins to tell us that they’re hungry and they just want some food, not money. I also remember him telling us that they were going to received food stamps next week. He stated “I promise we’re not picky” So I mention to my friend that I have no cash on me but I was willing to go to the closest fast food restaurant to pick up something for them to eat. My friend mentions that there’s a Taco Bell up the street, so I ask the man would Taco Bell work for him?
He responds with this “Taco Bell would work but that will only supply a meal for tonight, bread with ham or bologna will last us longer.” We immediately felt a sense of urgency to go to the closest grocery store, and grab what we felt like could be transported in their crate attaced to their bikes.
Now upon our return to the couple, they were both EXTREMELY grateful without even knowing what had been purchased or how much had been spent. In that moment, my eyes begin to water immensely because there’s no greater gift in this world than love.
“Love each other as I have loved you” John 15:12
You may not believe in giving to the less fortunate, and you may be one to second guess their motives… but God is love and love is a requirement. The message in the picture serves as confrimation for me!!!
