“Even people you think are perfect are going through something difficult.”
Growing up you’re taught that “practice makes perfect” and it’s instilled in you throughout all of your precious talents. Whether your talents are revolved around academics, sports, extracurricular activities, etc. You believe that as long as you pursue something wholeheartedly, it will be granted to you in due time. In some cases, this will come true for you. Be aware that in other cases, the timing is not right. So no matter how much work you’ve invested in perfecting your talent, you may not receive any awards in the time frame that you see fit.
Everyone carries a story about how they made it. I just wish that more people were willing to share to benefit others who are struggling with that aspect of life. See you just may be the epitome of perfection to someone because of the way you carry yourself. You hear often that people think the world of you, and wish that they could be like you. You have random people follow you on social media, because your “perfect” life draws attention from all over. You probably have people that follow you on social media, but choose not to engage with you in public. They don’t realize that you have daily struggles just like they do, so they feel beneath you. Sometimes your life seems so perfect, your followers would rather admire you from a distance.
Life can be so hard to live because you’re expected to face the unknown perfectly. You don’t get to pick your parents, who may or may not be prepared to fulfill the duties of parenthood. You don’t get to choose your upbringing, which will shape you mentally and expose how you view the remainder of your life experiences. You don’t choose the school(s) that you attend, where you’ll develop a clique who may or may not have the same values and morals that you have for yourself. You don’t choose your financial situation, but you will quickly learn how to make sacrifices if necessary.
You do choose from this point forward if perfection is what you’re striving for…
Don’t allow the standards of perfection make your view on life cloudy. Find the beauty, integrity, and respect in your less than perfect self. Oh sometimes, the road will be bumpy and you may even end up at a few dead ends. When the going gets tough, you’ll have to pray and encourage yourself. YOU will be the driving force behind taking a different route to stay afloat. Never be ashamed of your life story, embrace it. Perfection is a standard that some live by, but most will never understand the difference between the two: Reality & Perfection.
I encourage you to share your life story, regardless of how far from perfection that it is… Your life story could be the reason that someone doesn’t give up.
